I’m McKenzie McClaran LMHC, PMH- a licensed virtual therapist in Iowa City, Iowa specializing in complex trauma, perinatal mental health, and infertility. I am dedicated to supporting all self-identified women in Iowa from the comfort of your home. I’m here to provide a compassionate and understanding space for you on your journey toward healing.


I work virtually with women 18+ in the state of Iowa. Whether you’re a new mom, or have experienced perinatal challenges or infertility, my services are tailored to meet your unique needs …

… by integrating evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (Level 1 Trained IFS), psychodynamic therapy, and person-centered approaches. In addition, I incorporate trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, and other somatic practices to help clients connect with their bodies, manage stress, and process trauma on a deeper level.

My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. Like many of my clients, I have faced my own struggles with mental health, and it was through my own experience in therapy that I learned how transformative it could be. As someone who has experienced trauma, dealt with the complexities of perinatal mental health and infertility, I understand the deep emotional pain and resilience that comes with these challenges.

It was these experiences that ignited my passion for helping women reclaim their sense of self, heal from trauma, and find balance in their lives. I specialize in working with self-identified women who are struggling with trauma, perinatal mental health, and infertility, and I approach therapy through evidence-based modalities like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (Level 1 Trained IFS), and trauma-informed somatic practices.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me out walking my two lovable dogs—or being ignored by my two cats, who definitely run the house. I’m a big fan of movie nights (the cozier, the better), and I love balancing out my week with a good run or a calming yoga session. Whether I’m chasing sunshine with my pups or stretching it out on the mat, I try to keep life playful, grounded, and full of small joys.
